Basically what we get is a series of loosely connected stories with the same underlying theme. Misaki's job at Maid Latte is mostly just a gimmick, and besides for a handful of episodes it’s totally unimportant to the plot. But no amount of jokes can hide the fact that it doesn’t have any kind of story what so ever. The series' comedy is really quite good most of the time. Maid-sama at its best is extremely funny and enjoyable to watch. Despite this the series does end with a bang and has a very touching and satisfying conclusion which is probably the only thing that saved it from a lower overall score. Relationship development slows to a crawl and nothing of significance happens after the first third of the series until its end. But the typical problems that plague shoujo romances soon follow. The romantic chemistry between the two characters is quite good and builds very quickly early on. Misaki is revealed to not be quite the man hating tyrant she is in school and Usui is not the cold, unfeeling ladies man either. Thankfully the answer is no but what does follow, at least initially is a pretty fun and entertaining back and forth repartee between Misaki and Usui. Of course this means that the ultimate alpha male at the school, Usui Takumi, will find out about her secret. But she has a secret that could ruin her image as the tough and unyielding class president, she works part time in a Maid Cafe to help her family with the bills. She is strict and violent in protection of the female students and in making it a place friendlier to girls. Misaki Ayuzawa is the newly elected student council president at a mostly male high school. The premise behind Maid-sama has an initially interesting hook. Despite the series' fabulous artwork and a lot of great comedy, it is unfortunately a bit of a disappointment. Last year had featured a pretty good run of romance anime and this looked poised to continue that run. I had read a little of the manga and always found it to be funny. Usui was the first one in their school to know that Misaki is working as a maid for a maid cafe.When news of this year's new shows began surfacing, Kaichou wa Maid-sama was near the top of the ones I was looking forward to most. He usually tease Misaki to see her funny expressions and as a way to show his feelings. His interest in Misaki was sparked because she works hard and stands apart from everyone else. Despite his seemingly apathetic personality, he is very talented and is usually rank second in grades. He takes little interest in anything and the boys sometimes use him to get through Misaki. Usui Takumi - He is the most popular boy in Seika high. She works part-time as a maid in a maid cafe so that her sickly mother doesn’t need to work too much to support her and her sister. Her hatred to men stems out from her father leaving her family in huge debt.
Despite this, she treats the boys very fair and even willing to help out who needs it. She bosses the misbehaving boys into behaving like a model student, much to the displeasure of the majority of the male student body. Usui has just stumbled upon her secret!Īyuzawa Misaki - She is the first female student council president who aims to reform the former all-boys school, Seika High. She was very careful not to reveal this secret until one day, the school's most popular male student, Usui, bumped into her when she was throwing out the trash in her maid costume. Misaki does have a secret she works part-time in a maid cafe in a neighborhood far from her school. But because of her bossy and usually head-strong approach to disciplining the boys, she became known as demon dictator among the male student population. Misaki, the first female student council president, took it into her heands to change the school to give the female students a female friendly environment and rehabilitating the boys to behave like gentlemen in front of the girls. Now that it is a co-ed school, the female population is still at the minority even after several years.

Seika High was once an all-boys school known to be full of reckless students. It aired starting Apand ended Septemon TBS, BS-TBS and Animax Asia. An anime adaptation was directed by Horaki Sakurai and written by Hiro Fujiwara under J.C.Staff studio. Kaichou wa Maid-sama begun as a manga series created by Hiro Fujiwara and was published by Hakusensha starting December 2005 and ended September 2013 in LaLa magazine.
